bob & judithJudith Christy and Bob Mann - Co-Directors

 Judith and Bob first came to Shadowcliff on their honeymoon in 1977 with 35 of their closest friends and their 4 children. They have returned ever since as family, group leaders,cabin guests, retreat leaders and for the last nine seasons as Shadowcliff''s Co-directors.Judith's affinity is for growing and preparing tasty,nutriious food that models the principles of sustainability. She oversees all of our reservations and works closely with the Shadowcliff kitchen staff to create our"compassionate kitchen". Bob coordinates and acilites the Sustainability Series Workshops and spends as much time out of doors on the trails and our work projects as he can get away with.

 

Judy and Skelly Warren - Managers

judy and skelly warren shadowcliff staff Skelly and Judy's assocation with and love of Grand Lake and the surrounding Rocky Mountain National Park extends back for almost forty years! In their past positions as the artistic leadership of the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre they enjoyed collaborating with Shadowlcliff's founders and directors Warren and Patt Rempel and Bob Mann and Judith Christy. They are delighted to have moved up the hill to take up residence at Shadowcliff and to interact with all the folks that share in Shadowcliff's vision.

Luther and Ellen Wallace - September Managers

Shadowcliff staff- Luther and Ellen Wallace Luther was born in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating from college, he went into the Air Force where he served for 20 years. While in the Air Force, he lived in Reno, Nevada; Taipei, Taiwan; San Antonio, Texas; Houston, Texas; Honolulu, Hawaii and Denver, Colorado. His second career was with the Colorado Department of Transportation, from which he took early retirement in 2002. Luther's favorite past times are sailing, bicycling, tennis and spending time with Ellen.
Ellen was born in Chicago, Illinois. As a social worker, she worked with emotionally troubled teenagers, developed health care policy and, most recently, ran an agency that provided services for survivors of domestic violence. She is the board chair of the Denver Domestic Violence Coordinating Council. Ellen enjoys hiking, biking, spending time with family and laughing with Luther.
Luther and Ellen were married in Grand Lake (at Adams Falls) in 1999. They are planning to spend several months volunteering in Costa Rica, after leaving Shadowcliff this fall.

shadowcliff staff - jay eakin JJ Eakin - Maintenance

 JJ hails from Mountain Home Arkansas where he retired from ownership and operation of an appliance sales and service business. After spending a few years as maintenance person for a large KOA in California he joined the Shadowcliff staff. He returns for his ninth season as our "go to guy" for anything that needs fixed or cajoled back to life. He is also our local weatherman and has the only operating TV on the premises.

Mari is a resident of  Grand Lake and has been married to Craig, an employee of the National Forest Service, for 42 years. She has spent 15 years in the food service industry, both in Grand Lake and in Ohio, and is delighted for the chance to workonce again in a conference center setting with a diversity of guests and staff.  Mari and Craig have four children and two grandchildren.

 

 

Chris Headlee

 Chirs returns to Shadowlciff for her 4th season as part of our end of the season staff (mid August to October 1). She and her husband call Lincoln,Nebraska home where she teaches Tai Chi and smoking cessation classes.She loves to travel, camp and connect with the natural world in as many ways as possible.

 

 

Jeanne Kafer

Jeanne returns too Shadowcliff for her 6th year as part of our front office and hospitality staff She is out unofficial liason to the town of Grand Lake which she and her husband David have called home for more than 12 years. Jeanne is a part of almost everything that happens in Grand Lake and sevres on the Board of the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatrre and Mountain Family Services among others. She loves horses, travel, reading and connecting with our staff and guests.

 

 

Michelle Weyers

shadowcliff staff - michelle weyers Michelle is from Columbus, Ohio and at age 19 she is excited to be working in such a breath-taking area. She currently attends Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio for Natural Interpretation/ Ecotourism and can't wait to gain experience at Shadowcliff. Michelle has a passion for photography and the outdoors and likes to travel as much as possible. She loves meeting new people and can't wait to create amazing memories at Shadowcliff!

Adam Beals

shadowcliff staff - adam beals Adam returns to Shadowcliff's staff after teaching high school English for three years, one year in Southern Africa and two years on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico. Although Adam worked at Shadowcliff in 2006, his introduction to the lodge came much earlier during a series of childhood visits to RMNP with his family. Adam attended Grinnell College where he majored in English and ran cross country and track. Adam's post-summer plans include backpacking in Nepal and Africa, followed by graduate school in International Educational Policy.

Aubrey Millert

shadowcliff staff - aubrey Aubrey is from Brunswick Maine and a graduate of Bowdoin College with a BA in Environmental Studies and Anthropology. After college she participated in the Teach For America Program, volunteered in South Africa for one year and on a Zuni reservation in New Mexico for the last two years. Aubrey is a nature enthusiast with avid interest in hiking, running and paddling! She has a strong background in academic research and looks forward to the opportunity to use all of these skills and special interests this summer at Shadowcliff.

Tyler Kulikowski

shadowcliff staff - tyler Tyler is from Columbus Ohio and is now attending Hocking College for Ecotourism and Natural Interpretation. On his down time you might find Tyler wandering around the woods, backpacking, drawing, reading, thinking and laughing with friends.  He is very excited to spend the summer in Colorado working at Shadowcliff and hopes to explore the surrounding parks and meet lots of great people.

Sasha Dunbar

shadowcliff staff - sasha dunbar Sasha is a 19-year-old runner, entering her second year at Grinnell College. She plans on making an independent major involving sustainability and alternative education.  NYC is her place of origin, but all that concrete and smog never quite cut it for Sasha. She has done much outdoor adventuring on the coasts, is getting wonderfully acquainted with the Midwest and looks forward to exploring the Rocky Mountains for the first time. Sasha feels honored to be the fifth consecutive, and first female, Grinnell Cross-Country runner on Shadowcliff’s staff!

Dena Skow

shadowcliff staff - dena Dena has just completed her second degree from Eastern Michigan University in Biology with minors in Chemistry and French. After graduating, she spent two months traveling in Mexico. Her interests include reading, hiking and running, and she has recently added rock climbing and scuba diving to the list. After spending her childhood in Colorado, Dena is looking forward to return to the Rockies this summer and to learn from the Shadowcliff Sustainability workshops.

 

Kahramon Akhmedov

shadowcliff staff - Kakhramon Akhmedov Kahramon is from Kyrgyzstan where he is a student at “Beruniy” and has taken summer courses in language. In 2008 Kahramon worked doing construction work in Russia. He has won competitions in music, enjoys singing, basketball and reading and looks forward to learning more about the culture and customs of the United States while exploring the Rocky Mountains

Ashleigh Garcia

shadowcliff staff - ashleigh Ashleigh is a nutrition student at Colorado State University. When not studying for classes in preparation to graduate next fall, she enjoys cooking delicious meals for her roommates, hiking, snowboarding, road biking and mountain biking. After Ashleigh graduates from Colorado State she hopes to join the Peace Corps and eventually attend grad school to become a registered dietitian.
