Let's Make History

Help Us Update Shadowcliff’s History

Shadowcliff has touched many of us in special ways over the years. We are working to update the history of Shadowcliff by sharing the personal stories and recollections of those who have visited or stayed at Shadowcliff. Whether you have been a frequent visitor or this is your first visit, your story can contribute to the ongoing history.

To that end, twelve high school students from Kansas and Oregon, working with Shadowcliff Board Members and staff, and in conjunction with the Grand Lake Area Historical Society, have created this questionnaire to enable you to share your Shadowcliff story and experience.

If you are willing to spend a little time and respond to the questions below, your stories will be gathered with others to help create a living history. If you are willing to have your name included with your story, please indicate so where provided below. If you are willing to share your stories but not your name, you may do so.

Please return your responses to the Shadowcliff office or email them to Carl Sniffen at carl@shadowcliff.org or mail them to Carl Sniffen, 405 Parkhill Place, Grants Pass, Oregon 97527. If you have other questions, please feel free to ask Shadowcliff staff or call Carl Sniffen at 730/571-4792.

Please feel free to use additional sheets for your responses. We know that many of you have a lot to share. Thank you.

Shadowcliff History

Shadowcliff visitors come from all over the world for many reasons. Some come to Shadowcliff as part of a workshop or as a part of an organized group, retreat, or family vacation.. Many others come as individuals to experience the natural beauty of this location. Each visitor is important to us, and each has a story to share about the experience.

1. When did you first come to Shadowcliff? What brought you here? How many times have you been to

Shadowcliff?

2. The Shadowcliff website (www.shadowcliff.org) and other publications and signs often say, “Inspiring the

Journey.” How has Shadowcliff inspired your journey?

3. How would you describe your “Shadowcliff experience (s)?”

4. What favorite memories or stories of your visits to Shadowcliff that you would like to share? What activities or events have been meaningful to you?

5. Shadowcliff’s mission statement says, “Shadowcliff is an eco-friendly mountain sanctuary where together we are creating a climate for a restorative world.”  How does your Shadowcliff experience relate to this statement?

6. Based upon your experience, what is your vision for Shadowcliff 100 years from now?

7. Feel free to share any other Shadowcliff memories or experiences.

Thank you for taking the time to help with this project.  Feel free to attach additional sheets to complete your responses.
